I bought a Trooper 3.0TD on a 99 plate with FSH about 18months ago and 80 odd thousand on the clock. Only done 10k since including a full service. Became smoky recently (black not blue). Sought advice of mechanic thinking Turbo problems, told to give it a run to clear as i have been doing short journeys. took it on motorway. broke down. wouldnt restart needed tow truck. In garage awaiting diagnosis. If turbo charger is dead can they be re-furbed. are new ones expensive. where is good to buy. Have you heard of dipping in caustic to clean? The turbo was fitted at 40k as original blew. any advice would be appreciated
