*Automatic Transmission.

Hello, My name is Pat I was a Custom Exhaust Systems Builder for over 30 years. But I am disabled now and have an issue I cant wrap my head around. My Son gave my wife this 2001 trooper the issue is the high beam headlights work the low beams do not. I have tested for power with the Light switch in the on position and both sockets have power. But the low beams don't come on. I bought a chiltons that the part store said would have the info I needed as far as wiring diagrams and trouble shooting but it was a fail. The book only goes to a 96 and they don't seem to match very well. Im told the relay that says lighting under the dash is good. I have not found another relay to check. the 2 fuses under the hood for Lh and Rh headlight test fine. Im lost wiring and electrical troubleshooting wasn't my area I bent pipes and welded for a living. any ideas? also ive been trying to hunt down the ground for the light switch in the column but I cant locate it anyone have a diagram or picture for this old fart. lol thank you for any help and rock on.

Hi Pat, I am having the same issues as well on a 1988 Trooper I just picked up a few days ago. The headlights only came on when brights were engaged, so I got new (better) bulbs. Everything went fine putting them in, and still no low beams, just brights... I tested the relay and checked sockets as well and all tested working. I'm hoping someone else here has had the same issues and found the solution!

Wes
