Sticking Shift Lever

Hi guys, my gear shift lever seems to not want to engage into gear at times and I have to fiddle with it for the button to push in for me to move into a gear. What part is wearing out on my shifter?

Sorry but I neglected to mention that my shifting issue is occuring on my 01'' Rodeo LS
