So, the CEL is on, getting back 3 codes, cylinder 3 misfire, camshaft sensor, and the camshaft itself malfunctioning. There is white smoke, not all the time but it will happen a couple times during my morning commute to work. Car is NOT overheating. The brown sludge is very apparent in the coolant reservoir, and it goes without saying that it drives like crap. I'm almost sure it's a problem in the head, but if it isn't over heating, does that make it less of a possibility of the crack being in the head and moreso in the gasket?

 

They don't always overheat initially when the head gasket blows. It will progressively get worse.
