ok this is interesting. 95 trooper 3.2DOHC 4wd 175k miles. on an off had the trans light come on issue-restart-work fine. Then the trans light stayed off and the trans would only go into 1st gear and reverse. But you could shift manually thru the gears. Daughter had car at college-i had her take it to a local shop who called and told me "um you only have first gear-you have to go to a trans shop - we dont work on that". well i got it home and the dash lights were out and so were the back up lights and the break light. Once all the fuses connected to that light issue were replaced-everything was fine. Even the trans-as it turns out some of those fuses also deal with the AT. We finally figured out quite by accident that there was a short in the wiring for the trailer plug-replaced that and all is fine so far. Cost Zero. Of course now I''ve got that oil pressure problem...
