trooper 4X4 transmission 1986

Can I put a trasnsmission/transfer case from a 1986 trooper II 4x4, 2 door , 2.3 litre 4 cyl gas (manual 5 speed)in a :





1990 trooper 4x4, 4 door, 2.8 litre gas ??? also manual transmission

the transfer case is part of the transmission in manuals it doest just simply disconnect.automatics you could.

well, I don't know if you can pop in a 5 speed tranny/transfer case from a 4cyl to a 6cyl engine without using an adapter on the bellhousing. I know that the tranny will have no prob bolting in the chassis because from 86 to 90 the chassis does not change. you also have to check what type of clutch both trannys use. most prob.the 86 tranny uses a cable clutch, and your 90 trooper uses hydraulic clutch.


In my opinion I would use atranny from 89 to 91 troopers with a 2.8 v6engine.
