Timing Belt Question

Timing Belt Question
I've just bought a 99 Trooper with 159,000 miles on it. The owner didn't know if the timing belt had been changed or not. Is there a way to look at the belt or some other way to figure out if the belt needs changing or do I need to just go get it changed? Does anybody know what it would cost to have it done?

i would just get it done if its an "unkown". because it is going to cost alot less than valves and head work.
call a couple local shops or if you know of one that has a good rep. an get a price quote. cost between $300-$450 depeding on price of parts an the labor.
you will be happy when you find it was about to snap and you got in just in time.
