Hello all I just purchased an 87 trooper 2 for 650.00 it runs great 4X4 works.The problem i hve is I get a sound from the right wheel that sounds like a rachet spinning around with a clunk.It does this in 2 wheel drive and only of and on. bearings have been repacked and look good it does have auto hubs.Any suggestion on what the problem is would be a great help. Check the auto hub assembly. i have the same problem and some folks say the problem dissapear if you replace the auto hubs with manual hubs. I haven't done it because I am not running the trooper.

 

ok got new axel assembley and manual hubs.now another question which is in regards to the motor the trooper originaly had a 2.3 carborated and now has a 2.6 which was fuel injected and now has a 2.3 carb this is the way that i purchased it. There is no computer so what should i do Is there a carb that you would recomend and also if i were to do a motor swap what would be the best i would prefer a disel .Ps cant figure a=out how to start a new post thanks for all your help

 

Where do you live IMYERDAD? I am asking because diesels for trooper are very difficult to get.

Also, did you mean that you have a 2.6 L engine with a carburator? Just to clarify things.

 

it is a 2.6 engine with a carb from a 2.3. I live in idaho i dont know much about troopers . Thanks
