We have a 94 Trooper with the 3.2. It does fine around town, but it has recently started shuddering (hesitating?) when accelerating at freeway speeds. I think I hear faint popping, as in backfiring.

I took it toa mechanic and he cleaned the throttle body and said give that a try. It helped some, but the problem is still there. He also told me they found a service bulletin that warns of the spark plug sleeve breaking and falling into the cylinder when changing plugs. For that reason, he won't change them. Have you heard about that?

Any ideas what my next move should be?

LOW FUEL PRESSURE.AFTER IT RUNS AWHILE.ESP AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.WHEN YOU STOMP IT,I TWILL BOGG DOWN UNTIL YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OF THE GAS THEN IT WILL PICK BACK UP,IF YOU HAVE ALOT OF MILES ON IT AN NEVER CHANGED THE FUEL PUMP YET ITS PROABLY WORN OUT.THE ONLY WAY YOU,LL SEE THE PROBLEM IS HOOKING A FUEL PSI GAUGE TO IT AN WATCHING THE PSI AS YOU DRIVE.IT PROABLY DROPPING TO 20PSI AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS,SPEC IS 45-50PSI ALWAYS.OTHER WORDS .....FUEL PUMP NOT PRODUCING ENOUGH VOLUME.,GET A DEALER PUMP THERE PRICEY,BUT THE AFTERMARKETS ARE JUNK.

replace plugs-wires-fuel filter and catalytic converter.add lucas fuel treatment at each refuel.trust me on this.a clogged converter will foul your plugs and injectors.so do all this at the same time.
