Should I buy a Trooper

Should I buy a Trooper
Hello All,
I'm not sure if the last post of this thread went through.
I'm thinking of buying a Trooper for a 2nd snow vehicle. I'm looking at 2000/2001 Troopers.
I'd appreciate some help in deciding.
1) Do Troopers perform well on snow-covered paved roads? I've heard of some issues with "barking" tires due to the way the 4X4 system works. I'm used to Subarus that just GO. They don't care what type of material they're on, pavement, rock, ice, snow, etc. (I'm not looking at another Subaru because I can get a Trooper for more than 1/2 of a Subaru.)
2) I've hear A LOT about oil consumption being an issue. Should I be concerned. I'm looking at Troopers with 80 - 90K miles.
3) What are the problem areas of Troopers? Is there one area of concern I should watch out for?
Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.
