I just bought a 96 Trooper, and it runs out great, but just not sure about the RPMs. It is a 6 cyl. auto, and at 55 MPH it runs at almost 3000 RPMs. It seems like maybe the overdrive is not kicking in or something. Could this possibly be a vacum hose, or something simple, or does this sound like a major problem.

 

have u counted the shifts to see if it is going in to over drive? im not sure about a 96 as i have a 88 but they do have 4.55 gears mine tacks 3000rpms at 60 and i think some came with 4.88 if i remember right
