Default Only runs for a few seconds

I just recently bought a 1989 Isuzu Trooper II and have begun restoring it as it has sat in the same spot for 8 years prior. I put new gas in the tank and charged the battery along with priming the caburator. I turned the key and it started. The problem is it only ran for a few seconds then shut off again. I did this about 7 times and it still won't stay running.

might be a clogged fuel filter or bad fuel pump. if it sat for 8yrs, might have trash in the carb as well. Pull the breather off and look down the throat of the carb if its dirty, grab a can of carb cleaner and spray the walls of the carb down real good and pull each of the plugs as well(spray the outside of the spark plugs before pulling them in-case of trash around them, don't want it in the cylinder ports) and spray the plug threads and a bit in the cylinder ports as well.

If this doesn't work, then like a said, you might have a clogged fuel filter or bad fuel pump. Replace those two and throw about 2 ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil in the tank and fill with fresh gas and let it run for about 30mins or so, Should make it run almost like new.

Im guessing that the float is stuck from sitting so long and the fuel bowl in the carb isnt getting filled enough , I would probably replace the needlevalve for the float or rebuild the carb, or get a good used carb to see if the problem goes away, makes sure theres good constant fuel pressure to the carb.
