New to the forum need help
Hi everyone. I have an Isuzu Trooper it's an 01 and it needs a new engine. I have swapped the engine tranny and T case in my jeep before, but I have never swapped just an engine and unbolted the engine from the tranny. Is there a certain way to seperate the engine from the tranny without damaging things? I'm just looking for any advice that you guys can give me to make the process go smoothly. I can't seem to find any writups on it. Or picks would be great too.
Also, it is the 3.5L and I have found one for $2000 shipped, cause they're kinda hard to come by. Are there any other vehicle models that use this same engine that would be a direct swap? Thanks in advance. Klinton |
This is strickly by the book. There are easier ways to do it once you get hands-on into it.

Caution: When assembling the engine and transmission, confirm that dowels have been mounted in the specified positions at the engine side. Take care that dowel positions are different between the manual transmission and the automatic transmission. http://www.alldatapro.com/alldata/PR...23994/89198875 If the engine is assembled in the condition that the dowels have not been mounted in the specified positions, the transmission may be damaged the transmission.

What a great answer!
NEUWBEA;
What was the source for your answer NEUWBEA? I just bought an 86 Trooper with the engine all torn apart and sitting in the rear; A REAL BASKET CASE. I have the Chilton manual to help me; but it doesn't lay it out like the directions you just gave. Where could I find an answer for my 86 Trooper like the one you gave to Klint? Mine is the worst basket case I have ever seen; everything is all mixed up and tossed into boxes. Today i am going to start by cleaning all the gunk off everything; and then trying to put the parts into some kind of order. Directions like you gave Klint would be a fantastic help for me.
