Hey all,

I need fast help on this. My last post described my search for a replacement ECU for my ''89 Trooper 4cyl., but searching online over the weekend made me realize I was trying to match the wrong number. There''s a ten digit number that the ECU rebuild places use, but I can''t find mine listed.

The label on my Hitachi ECU has a large CAL stamped on it, so I''m thinking it might actually be a California vehicle with the tighter emissions standards.

I really need the truck running this week to complete a job that I''m going over schedule on. The junk yard has Troopers of my vintage and engine, but the ECU #''s don''t match.

If I grab a different ECU to try, what will happen? Will it simply not work? Will it not work right, and the Trooper will run bad or the check engine light stay on? Or, can Idamage my Trooper? I''m willing to give ita try as long as I''m not going to create more repairs for myself doing it.

Thanks!
