my 1997 isuzu trooper automatic seems to have hiccups. the idling is not constant butfluctuates every once in a while. its noticeablewhen your parked or in nuetral. i changed fuel filter and had it tuned up but problem still there. suspected the revup on the aircon but when i turned aircon off ,problem still there.

also when i press on the break lightly ,the engine would sometimes stop. so i usuallypress on the breaks harder then shift to neutral immediately. is this ok or does it have someting to do with my first problem. can anyone help me before i bring it to the shop?

Hi, Often when you have idle fluctuations it is a result of poor idle air control. This does not mean to replace the Idle air control module, but you need to make sure you don't have an intake manifold leak. It was quite common on certain Isuzu motors for the intake gaskets to split and allow outside air into the engine, causing the idle air control to constantly work to achieve proper idle speed. If applying the brakes causes the engine to stall, I would also look for a split or missing vacuum line connection.Check all the vacuum hoses to make sure they are OK and connected properly. It sounds like your engine must be quite lean to quit like it is doing. Hope this helps.
