does this do this hot and cold? when it is doing it is it like the engine is starving for fuel or flooding?

If there is no fuel in the canister the you would not think that it is sucking fuel through the roll over valves.

How does the engine run around a half a tank?

it will do it hot or cold, within minutes of filling the tank with fuel, acts like it is flooding, black smoking, have to keep throttle pressed to keep running, if it dies you really have to grind the starter to get it running again

when you get about 100 miles on a tank it will start running better and better, except when you get on a nose down or steep sideways angle, I believe to the passenger side, if I remember right.

it runs no different with the fuel pump fuse pulled, but the oil pressure light comes on until you put the fuse back in. The canister is dry and not stopped up, even exchanged with one from another trooper.

why would an alternator cause the trooper to run bad when you fill the gas tank? Then after you drive about 100 miles or drain out about 5 gallons it starts running good again? Hasn't got a thing to do with the alternator. Sorry no cigar.

Still hoping for an answer

ok so i talked to my gm tech at work. he said it the pressure regulator would cause the over fueling and black smoke, we checked all data on the spec for the fuel pressure and it should be at 35 psi no matter if it is cold or hot. also told him about the problem about it running crappy while full. he suggested to pull to return line to the fuel tank and blow air through it to make sure you have no clogs or build up in the line. < src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" =text/> </>< =text/> _uacct = "UA-939292-44"; urchinTracker(); </>< src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" =text/> </>< =text/> _uacct = "UA-939292-44"; urchinTracker(); </>< src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" =text/> </>< =text/> _uacct = "UA-939292-44"; urchinTracker(); </>< src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" =text/> </>< =text/> _uacct = "UA-939292-44"; urchinTracker(); </>

i had the same problem a long time ago with a vehicle that was carbeurated. it seems the previous owner had switched the main fuel line with the return line. i dont know if its possible on this vehicle, but that was my problem

sorry, no cigar, been quite some time since I have heard from anyone on this. 2 different size lines and it would not build the proper fuel pressure to the fuel line if that were the case. I will double check and reply if you are right and I am wrong. I just don't fill the tank over 3/4 full anymore.
