Well I thought I would introduce myself first. My name is Tim and I have had a 1985 trooper for the bast 7 years. For the past 3 years it has been sitting not running because it will not shift out of second gear. Is this a common problem amongst older troopers. I am wanting to get it moving again pretty soon and am pretty handy with a wrench as I also own two Land Rover Discoverys. Oh and the engine hasn't run in the 85 trooper in a long time either.... so I am not sure where to start to get this thing moving.

 

get a small block chevy 350 and a new tranny.

that or get a chevy 305 and rebuild your current tranny.
