Your only choice is finding a good used one or an after market fuel cell that fits.

You're probably going to need a new fuel pump as well, and that's likely impossible.

You are likely correct - the tank itself has been impossible to locate so far and who knows yet about the cell itself. I see a tank on ebay but condition is unknown. Could be worse than mine and its not cheap. Vehicle runs great and looks great, I had rebuilt engine and tranny installed last year, and I am only 2nd owner since new, but the tank, I am being told, has slight seepage at the seam, not even a drip is noticeable, more like a damp spot. It's possible it can be professionally resealed but I just haven't done that yet. Thanks for your input.

What's wrong with the car's original fuel tank? If it's just cruddy, it can be reconditioned. A decent radiator shop can clean out any rust and coat the inside of the tank with a 2 part epoxy. I've had that done several times over the years with great results.

Tank has some 'bubble' leaks at the seam, minor at this point and not even noticeable, it also has surface rust, full extent of rust is unknown, it has yet to be removed from vehicle. To me the tank seems
as if it could be coated. At this point, I tend to not believe what I was told, that it needed replaced, rather, just reconditioned as you stated. Thanks for your input.

It took a really good local salvage yard 3 tries to get me a useable tank. They had to get one from a neighboring state via a delivery network yards have, as a used tank can not be shipped via UPS, etc.

The hardest part was to find one where the mounting flange for the fuel pump wasn't beyond use. That's the biggest problem, the top mounted fuel pump rusts out and removing it can be a big problem!

In my case the fuel pump was the actual problem. It had rusted out and was spraying gas on the underside of the truck. it was so rusted it wasn't removeable. I was lucky enough to locate the last new fuel pump in the US through a former Isuzu dealer ($500). He tried but couldn't find a new tank, which would have been $1000 if found.
