Hi I have a problem with getting voltage to my fuel pump on a 1989 Trooper ll 2.6 Liter,,,I have swapped out the relays and fuses, I also have a 89 Isuzu Pup,and I took the ECM and swapped it out too..The pump seeems fine when I put 12 volts to it.. Is there a fuse link somewhere ? Anty thoughts or suggestions deeply appreciated...

It is the altnernator. Believe it. There is a switch in the alt that controls a relay that switches power to the pump from battery to alt power after start up. I have not found a way to test it other than replace it. Symtom, starts, runs a second, stops. Acts like a fuel problem. Sound like you have spare parts. Try it. Let us know. Good luck.

Thanks for your post. I have a 92 2.6 Pickup at the shop - acting EXACTLY as described. I spotted an online article mentioning the ALTERNATOR issue in regards to an Isuzu Rodeo. I figured it was worth a shot. The shop got the alternator late, so it will be installed first thing Friday morning. I WILL post the results. I am very encouraged, as your post sounds like a good second opinion. Thanks again!
