Question engin wireing colore codes

I could sure use some help here . Have an 88 with the 2.6L and have had a small wire break off up near the coil. the colors on it are yellow with a blue strip along the length with a SINGLE RED banding along it. I know the coil uses a yellow with blue and a DOUBLE red bad .. I thought it was a ground wire as it has a factory connector a few inches from where it snapped.. thus I thought it was a ground. But when I grounded it, it blew the 20 amp fuse to the "amp-meter" .. so no it's no ground wire.(BTW I was told bytwo mechanics that it had to be a ground-wire) So if any one with a simular model could please just look under their hood and just tell me where that wire hooks up?
