my beloved 89 trooper v6 runs for a minute then conks out with check engine lite coming on . i put in new fuel filter (hopefully in right direction-- flat side to front of car) and read codes(3 and 4 came up) map stuff and egr ... i don't mi8nd throwing a few parts at it for i will keep the car till i die . any suggestions on what parts to throw at it before getting a mobile mechanic to come to house. a new fuel pump is 189 and i wouldn't mind throwing it at it, for eventually it will need one... i have 280,000 oh yeah i also swapped fuel relay with ac relay(same numbers) and that didn't work... i know im going *** backwards but thats what i know any help out there, i would sincerely appreciate it

It could be a number of things. Have you checked the spark plugs?
