I have just purchased a 1985 Trooper and am having a problem getting power under load.


I have rebuilt the carb (use not to run at all), changed the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, oil, filter. Set the timming @ 6 deg.


I have messed with the timming some but it is not helping. I have drained the tank and put in new gas also.


It runs great when sitting still.


When you take off, it kind of sputters. And when you get into it it does not want to go it hesitates and jerks some,


Any help would be great.

I have a 94 trooper and had something like that too. I found that the timming belt was off by just one tooth and that the cat was cloged. After fixing both I have more than enough power and no more sputters. Good luck.
