Hi everyone. My dad has a 1990 Trooper with the 2.8L V6. He's having a problem with an intermittent no start and more recently randomly dying. It has spark when it wont start but I'm not sure about fuel.

He noticed today that when it died the check engine light didn't come on. He turned the key off and on and the CEL still didn't come on like it should and it wouldn't start. He turned the key off and on until the CEL finally came on and then it started fine.

Any ideas what it could be? I'm thinking the ignition switch, computer or a loose connection/short somewhere. We replaced the ICM with no affect. Thanks.
