Pardon the newb question, but I am trying to make a somewhat quick decision about a Rodeo I'm looking at.

Who makes the 2002 Rodeo engines? Is it GM? I test drove a 4cyl model
and I saw a GM symbol on the intake manifold...is it a jap-GM hybrid or
what? Is it the same with the V-6 model?

Did the Honda Passport have the same engine?

Thank you in advance for the replies.

Not sure why there would be gm symbol on the intake. All the 4cyl isuzus are built by isuzu. All the 3.2 and 3.5 v6's are also isuzu. Only the 3.1 v6 was gm.

If its an automatic the trans is gm, but the 5 speed trans are isuzu.

The passports have the same everything. They are just rebadged rodeos.

ANY ISUZU WITH THE AUSTRAILIAN ENGINE;the 4cly gm is very under powered an has many problems.they offerthat same engine in the daewoo models also, an you see how far they got here......until suzuki had to buy them .now all the new reno,s an forenzas have those engines.they all are daewoos dont let suzuki fool you..... suzuki has a reliable line, but until they started badging daewoos junk.for any suzuki owners out there or considering make sure its all suzuki not a rebadged car.Edited by: ISUZUGURU

The 2.2L 4 cylinder, the 3.2 v-6 Rodeo *sigh* or even the Passport are good vehicles. But, you must keep up on the maintainance!

Yes, the Daewoo (woo-who?) used the same enigine manufactuer (Holden) and Cadillac Catera use a V-6 Holden, but GM bought Daewoo cars and labeled the as Aveo's. (they still say Daewoo on the emissions label)
