If yours is an OBD II system your gas cap might have been a little loose. It will throw a CEL if the tank doesnt maintain pressure.

The code might still be stored in the ECU if you want to find out for sure. Just go to autozone and they will check it for free.

I noticed after putting a high flow Accel air filter in,my CEL came on right away and would go off and come on again randomly during the day I installed it. Since then, hasn't done it for about 4 weeks.

thoughs air filters are good for any vehicle,as long as you dont install them with the oil.like k@n filters.the oil contaminates the mass air flow sensors.

ah,mine is carburated, and it was just a sponge-type with wire mesh air filter. I've used K&Ns in other vehicles with no problems, but I've never owned the vehicles long enough to ever need to clean the filter,LOL

on my mothers rodeo, it is very sensitive to the gas cap, if it isnt on tight enough the CEL will come on, she has also had problems with the fuel pump sending unit, but when that happened her gas gauge was also freaking out, but only when it was below 1/2 tank, this also threw an EVAP code, which is what will show up for the gas cap, i work at autozone, it will show the same code for the sending unit and gas cap on the cheap scan tools they have, hope this may help you!
