So I have a 1999 rodeo with 4wd and I have the ball joints off, brakes, etc. and now I am at the axles on both sides. I bought two new axles because the CV joints are shot. My question is: should the axle just slide out now? I pull on it and it won't budge. Should i force it or is there something i am missing? help please! The next step is to open the front differential and I know I don't have to go that far to sawp axles.

You should be able to use a prybar or screwdriver to pry them out. That should work.
