Starter Question

Hi ..I am new here and had a question.. I have a 98 rodeo. The starter clicks..then eventually starts. The battery is brand new so is the starter. With that being said .. sounds like the starter solenoid? Am I right with this assumption ?

Love the forum .. happy to be trekking with an isuzu again ..

Thanks in advance for any help ..

Could be the starter binding up. The original one had locating dowels in the bolt holes, after market ones usually dont. I didnt know that till after I replaced mine and spent quite a while trying to get it lined up right.

Also make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight, also that the other ends of the battery cables are clean and tight.

With that said, I have had problems with replacement starters before. Had to take back several before getting one that actually worked right.
