Removing crankshaft bolt

3.2L v6 1996 Rodeo, I'm trying to remove the bolt from the crankshaft to remove the lower timing chain cover. My problem is which way do I turn the bolt to loosen it? When I turn the bolt to the right or the left the bolt will turn a couple of times and then it will feel like it's tightening up. What can to do to get it loose?

Ccw = off,
cw = on!
(use impact socket if radiator is out of the way) or tap with hammer onto bolt head,
when reassembling pulley and bolt use anti seize compound on crankshaft/pulley and bolt threats.
Stuck pulley can be removed with a flat steel bar, 2 holed, nolts onto pulley and a large bolt in center to pull stuck pulley off crankshaft!

put the wrench or ratchet on the and try to position it so it will hit something and just bump the starter it works everytime

Did this a while ago .... socket on breaker bar and hold some tension trying to turn the bolt counter-clockwise as mentioned. While holding some weight on the bar hit the handle with a hammer. Nothing to extreme - but the shock of the strike on the bar with all the slack taken out between the bolt/socket should get it loose. If not tap harder the next time. Doing it this way you don't have to remove the radiator (at least I did the belt, tensioner and water pump with it in)
