I have a 99 Rodeo, 4X4. The outer CV boots are torn and leaking CV grease, also driver side makes a clunking noise when hitting bumps, asuming CV joint related....Are the outer boots servicable whithout removing the whole front end?.....From what I've read sofar, the procedure to change them is very involved.

Ive done them on a 95, Im pretty sure theyre siimilar, you have to remove the front hubs, brakes, and separate the sxle at the inner tripod. You will not be able to get the whole axle out. Either pull the axle thru the spindle or unbutton the lower ball joint(or upper if that doesnt work) and pull the axle out that way. If I remember correctly, the inner tripod comes off (make sure you index it before dissasembly) and the boot slides on from the back, you will also need to find two extra clamps for the inner boot that they didnt give you in your outer boot kit. The fun part comes when you have to squeeze the ears on the clamps when the axle is in the vehicle, a pretty tough job without the proper tool. Make sure you buy good quality boots, so you dont have to do it again. I recommend oems.
