Only getting first gear when shifting to L Solenoid or other issue?
I searched the forum and it seems the issue might be with one of the shift solenoids, but I want to confirm. The car feels like its starting in third or fourth gear unless I manually shift to L. I also notice a weard whiney noise when engaging a gear, especially when shifting to L. Could this point to something other than the shift solenoid?
Also- For the past few weeks leading up to this issue. there was an issue with a 2-3 second delay after shifting into Drive before the transmission engaged on cold starts, but no issue with the transmission actually shifting between gears, and also the delay went away or reduced once warmed up.
Some history The transmission was rebuilt about 15-20k miles ago by a reputable shop and has been running smoothly since. Six months ago, it was slipping a bit, checked the fluid and it was low , and topping off the fluid fixed it.
There are no transmission-related check engine codes or transmission lights.
thanks for the help.
