how to read the dang dipstick

Oil light is coming on, and I go to check the level, and I have never seen a dipstick like this before.
I tried to google it, but I am not sure that this type of dipstick has a special name.
At any rate, can someone help my understand how to read my 2001 rodeo dipstick?
