1995 Isuzu Rodeo, 3.0L V6, 4WD, 5-Speed....Grey... (joke)

I got the truck from a friend with a high idle around 2000 rpm's...
I changed out the fuel position sensor( at least thats what I think it was) and it went down, but then started bogging out, as I pressed the accelerator and as i was letting off...

Then I needed a new battery so I picked one up and as soon as I finished installing it, the high idle came back with even more terror, idling between 2500 and 3000 rpm's which is just ridiculous.
Throttle cable is fine, not the problem... I was told that
I could try a new catalytic converter but it would be a pain in the butt and I'd have to find someone to weld it on for me unless i spent an arm and a leg to get a new bolt on one.

If you have any idea what might be causing this specifically, or you know exactly what it is, please help!
