Hello, I''m new to isuzu. I have a 94 rodeo, 6cyl, 5 spd. i have a loss of power up hills. etc. since then have changed the plugs, wires, coils packs, gas filter, air filter. the rodeo runs ok on level land, but takes a while to get to speed. the exhaust smells rich of gas, but the cati has been punched out today due to a mechanic recommendation. But still loss of power, and stalles when stopping. Now i have gone 200 miles and it took 100.oo dollars worth of gas. i''m ready to burn this thing. I have not much money and need a vehical. Anysuggestions what could be wrong. Help would be greatly appreciated, as i have to drive 200 miles again tomorrow.

Hey im new too, i registered to help you out!
first of all how many miles does your rodeo have?. My rode had a very similar problem.
my rodeo was just under 100,000 miles when it was acting up. After tons of work i decided to change my O2 sensors. My rodeo is a 96 so i have four sensors. I changed the two upstream sensors and the results wher amazing. Better gas mileage and better throttle response.
Before changing the sensors, i would press the gas, but no acceleration would take place unless i floored it. Now drives as good as new!

I have a first gen rodeo so there is probably a hell of a difference, but when I first got mine it hated life. There was other things wrong that I had gradually fixed as they needed replacing but the problem that I had which was similar to yours is mine had a huge exhaust leak and it was either a piston or a cylinder (I can''t recall) that was misfiring. that was my gas guzzeling problem and once both were fixed I gotmuch bettergas mileage.

A bad coolant temp sensor could cause it to run very rich too. The computer uses the temp sensor in the fuel mixture equation and will richen the mixture when its cold, kind of like a choke on an old carbureted engine.
