I just put a new K&N cone air filter on my 03 Rodeo, I had to do some of my own modifications because noone really makes high proformance air filters for rodeos. But my problem is there is also no air filter box or sheild around it. It's fine for right now and it's made a noticable difference but after a while I'll have to get or make my own box. Does anyone have any comments or suggestions. I bought some materials to try and work with tonight but I dont really know what I'm doing as far as this kind of stuff is concerned.

I am about to do the same thing. I posted a question earlier about that. I am glad you had good results. I found an old air box someone was selling on ebay (or try a salvage lot) that fits then I plan on cutting the side wall out where the cone enters and leaving the lid off. I also might cut away a little of the front and around the cold air entry from the fender. Im hoping for a fairly factory sleek look. So anyway those are just a few of my own ideas. good luck and let me know what you think maybe if we put our heads together we can come up with something good. cheers!< src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" ="text/"></>< ="text/">_uacct = "UA-939292-44";

Well thanks man, thats a reall good idea. I was thinking something like that. I was just gonna try and fit it all in an enclosed box if thats at all possible. The more cold air the better, you know? I have alot of ideas about the rodeo its just difficult when your trying to get it all done yourself and no help from the factories. What all have you done or what all are you thinking about doing?Edited by: Nick6147

Hey, I took your idea and just cut a hole big enough to fit the filter in there and it works very nicely. Check it out.Name: Frontview.jpg

Wow ! that looks pretty good! Ill work on mine and post a picture also. my box doesnt have that little inlet peace thats pointing at the filter in yours ??? That probable helps direct cool air to it. Have you done and exhaust/high flow muffler?< src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" ="text/"></>< ="text/">_uacct = "UA-939292-44";

< src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" =text/> </>Nice job! You should think about going into the business! I wanted to purchase an after market like this but there were none available. Have you notice a performance difference? < =text/> _uacct = "UA-939292-44"; urchinTracker(); </>

You guys should check out this site: http://www.pureisuzu.com/isuzumain.htm

They also have an aftermarket airbox & filter comparable to K&N, but a little less expensive I think.

Hey guys, thanks! Yes I do feel a performance difference but above all, it sounds great! It's like a real truck now and I love it. I actually havnt done anything as far as exhaustbut I'm actually in the market for either a magnaflow or flowmaster system to put on it. Although calmini is a great place to find parts for our rodeos, I prefer a name that is more recognizable, but thats just my oppinion. However,If I stumble across the money for a lift kit, thats where I would get it, mainly because I cannot find another kit anywhere. But anyways, yes sir, my stock air filter box came with the little air flow box directing the air on the fliter which is very convenient but I believe that comes in the 2003 model. Its easy enough to get a L pipe from the fender wall. Thats what I did befor I cut up my old box. It worked but I wanted more control on the engine heat. I'd really like to see how yours turns out. And as for edl63, thank you. i would really like to get into the business, although I really dont know how. Edited by: Nick6147
