the tach in jumps to 3000 rpm when i start it. works smoothly but never drops below 3000. the engine is definately idling at the right rpm and i know im not spinning redline at 35mph.

im hoping someone can point me in the right direction of what to check, any help would be appreciated. its been that way since i bought. everything looks plugged in right at the coil/distributor. nothing looks like its been torn apart or anything but who knows.
