Hello all.

I drive a 94' Rodeo 4x2 I've finally given up the idea of converting my ride into a 4x4, being as I am a poor high school student. But I really want to make this thing some kind of a project car. I don't know if there would be any point in raising it any, I'm not a huge fan of doing this for no reason at all.

So here are my real questions: Ok, so I work at a scout camp all summer and I am wondering if there would be any point in doing things to make it perform better offroad.

Also, if not should I lower it? Maybe try to make it a bit faster?

Or should I stick to tinkering around until my finances increase and I can go wild? Thanks all.

Not worth it, IMO.

Yea I was kind of thinking that too. I need to learn more about this stuff tho, and I think this is the best way. If I dont spend much money on it, what kinds of things can I do to increase performance or make it cooler? Thanks

Sorry, can't be of much help there. There are others who haunt these forums (like Gizmo42) who are quite expert & have done a lot to theirs. Perhaps they will chime in.

I've kept mine pretty much stock. I assume you have the 3.2L 6VD1 engine like I do? If so, I can certianly understand your desire for more power. Mine has an astounding combination of mediocre gas milage+minimal power. I've been so busy trying to conquer a severe knock-on-regular-gas problem, I haven't had time to even consider power-up options.

Not really much you can do power wise other then high flow air filter and exhaust. Will give a little bit of power boost but not much. Only other power option is an Alpine supercharger but dont think you'd want to drop $3k on that

These trucks are surprisingly capable offroad even with 2wd especially if you have limited slip rear diff (look for the code G80 on the options plate on the firewall in the engine compartment). A locker would make it even more capable but makes it harder driving on the street especially in snow.

Personally I cant stand lowered trucks, I think it looks stupid but thats my opinion. Ramblin Fever on planetisuzoo and automotiveforums has a 2wd and used to offroad his alot. Just need some good a/t tires. He recently did a small lift on his for a bit more ground clearance.
