Here is a good one that is really puzzling me. My daughter ended up driving her seemingly perfect 99 Rodeo until the engine seized. No oil on the stick and bad grinding noises. Bought another used engine $2K and replace into car $1.8K. Now this car uses 1 qt, every 25 miles. Mechanic stated that compression was fine. Car drives with power but smokes like my dad. Experimenting with this, I plugged the PCV valve and valve cover hole with tape and the car does not use any oil. The manifold was re-used from the old engine with new gaskets. Can the engine pull too much vacuum or is something else going on? I need help....

replaced the pcv valve, and ck the egr port make sure it is clear, or it will cause high combustion chamber temp and cause the oil to get thick and clog the oilling rings and will use oil

But here is the deal, I had a new PCV and EGR valve installed with the used engine....no check engine light is on, why does the PCV line appear to suck oil from the valve cover area. Is there a baffle that has fallen out or in the case of my Volvo, a mesh screen that needs to be replaced?
