Default 2001 Rodeo Noise Issue

My GF's Rodeo is making an awful howling noise when she gets on the interstate and goes between 65-75. She didn't notice the noise until she got the windshield replaced, but admits she never really took the vehicle on the interstate before than, so it may just be coincidence. We tried taping around the sealing around the window but the noise still occurred, so we kinda feel that it must not be a sealing problem. The funny thing is that the noise will go away if she squirts some wiper fluid on the windshield (again could be total coincidence). Her father thinks it could a speedometer cable. It sounds like it is coming from the driver side on the front of the vehicle. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Does it have the factory roof luggage rack? My 2001 does and I also had wind noise at those speeds. I moved the cross bars towards the rear of the vehicle and the noise went away. You might try that if hers has the luggage rack.

yes, it does have a factory luggage rack, I will try that and hope that fixes it. Thanks for the suggestion.

I was looking at the luggage rack on my '98 Rodeo recently and noticed some rubber "fillers" that prevent the front crossbar from going all the way forward. Not too sure why it's there, but thought I might remove them so I could get more spacing between the crossbars for my canoe. Then it occurred to me that I might get some wind noise if I did that. Moving the front bar back seems like a reasonable suggestion. My antenna causes some wind noise, but usually at much higher speeds.

Check to make sure the mounting base for the rack is secure. These tend to loosen and cause a rattle at low speed or howl noise at higher speeds. It is usually the one located on the drivers front. If it is loose you will have to pull down the headliner to tighten. Good luck
