My engine has developed a high pitch squeal, it seems to be coming from the top front area right in front of the intake manifold. Any ideas what it might be?

Bad belt?

Bad idler or tensioner pulley bearings?

thought it was coming fromthe idler pulley, replaced it, still squeals.


If I goose the throttle it will stop momentarily, if I increase engine speed slowly, the squeal doesn't change in pitch.

Might possibly be a vacuum leak whistling.
