Default 1999 Rodeo won't go in drive!!

1999 Rodeo v6 w/200k. Automatic

Now will not go forward in any gear. Transmission has been gradually getting worse for the last couple months. I would have to rev up to like 3000 rpms, and after 5-6 seconds it would slowly creep forward. Once I got going it was fine, until I came to a stop.

I have read lots of other posts on other sites about similar problems, and some people have replaced or rebuilt transmission and still had the same issue. Makes me think it might be a linkage or electric fault. Any ideas? Reverse works just fine, and I have recently had issues with the starter - replaced about a month ago.

Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions

You will need to clean the throttle position sensor (sometimes its called a range position sensor).

Mine was mis-shifted gears like crazy before.
