Question 1998 Rodeo, Fluid/Coolant in spark plugs

Hi Everyone,
I have a 1998 Isuzu Rodeo 4WD with 134,000 miles on it. Check engine lights went on so I brought the car to a mechanic. He checked the spark plugs and found fluid in spark plugs 4 and 6. He told me that most likely the head gasket is blown. He said that he can replace the head gasket and have the head checked for cracks and/or resurfaced. I really love this truck but also because I do not have extra cash I just wanted to make sure that if the truck is repaired, how long does it usually last after head gasket repair?

I still drive the truck but can feel the engine vibration when I am stopped at a light and the engine is at idle and funny smelling emission from the vehicle. No white smoke coming out of mufflers though. Other times, the engines seems to run quiet.
I don't know much about cars and engines, so if anyone can give me insights, I would really appreciate it.

My questions are:
1. Is it really the head gasket that is the problem, or are there any other less "serious" stuff than can leak coolant into the spark plugs?

2. If it is the head gasket, Is it worth it to have it repaired? Meaning, will the car last for a couple more years? (I live 10 miles from work, which is what i need the car for mostly).

3. Aside from head gasket, are there any chance that there are other problems that will be discovered as soon as the engine is disassembled which would lead to more repair costs?

4. Is engine replacement a better alternative?

Thanks.
