1996 3.2 Rodeo Rough Start
I recently purchased a '96 rodeo with the 3.2 in it. When I go to turn the key the motor will turn over an excessive amount of times before it actually starts. I have replaced the fuel filter, and it seemed to help almost immediately, but then went back to the normal symptoms of a rough start. I are plugs and wires next? Any other suggestions?
Thanks

Again, no autorized Isuzu mechanic but here are my thoughts. The problem is there, and you have helped it but have not solved it. While plugs and wires are proboly due and needed, I am thinking fuel pressure related. The pump only pumps a little before it shuts down and then has a moment before it pumps again. Replacing the fuel filter may have improved flow of fuel, but there may still be crud in the tank. Also a poor fuel regulator can cause the same issue. I'd just test for fuel pressure at start up to see where it is at. It's an easy test and doesn't cost any money. Just my thoughts.
So check the fuel regulator? I thought about possible crap in the tank. As far as all cylinders firing, it pulls pretty strong and idles well. It has 130,000 on it, so as far as the plugs and wires your probably right. How much does it cost to have the tank pumped or can i do it myself?

Hey guys I've got a new part to add to the problem. This last week sep 26-Oct 1 the weather here in N Georgia has gotten kind of chilly low forties at night/early monrings, and the car has been starting right up like it should-indicating that possibly is has something to do with a thermostat or some kind of electric choke.
Is there something that i can check along those lines or replace?
Thanks

Just a thought, but in my racing days we used to pack a "cool can" to get the fuel cold. The fuel when cold seems to form for lack of a better word better droplets than when warmer. This seemed to put more fuel in the chamber and get a bigger burn. This may be whats happening in your case which might suggest again poor fuel pressure or a faulty or dirty injector. If the fuel injection "squirt" is just on the borderline in a cylinder or cylinders than I could see this. Just thoughts. Try running some injection cleaner through the tank. By the way, did you check the fuel pressure at start up?
