the car is an 2001 rodeo ls
mileage is aprox 46k miles

the background behind the problem is.....

I drove it to school on the last night of finals, it had a 1/4 tank...i got there early so i took a nap(like 20 minutes max) When i woke up the car wasnt running...and the gas gauge was way past empty....well i knew about the problems with the gauges so i put gas in it......nothing happened....so i thought maybe i should put more in it. Right now there are 9 gallons of gad in it....the fuel gauge is working now but the motor just cranks and cranks like it isnt getting any fuel.....im trying to figure out if anyone has had this problem and what the did before i start replacing the wrong parts.....i just know hondas this rodeo is greek to me. And according to the haynes manual the fuel pump is up front with the block?

no my friend the fuel pump is in the fuel tank,to check and see if its a fuel problem with out using a gauge is to have someone spray some carb cleaner into the throttlebody while u crank it and see if it starts.if it does u either have a bad fuel pump or u ran it dry and sucked some trash up into the filter restricting fuel flow
