Hey guys,

Bought a 92 pup 2.6 spacecab 4x a few months ago and been replacing just about everything I can. I’m having issues with a misfire/running badly that are being caused by the egr valve.

My plan is to cut a piece of aluminum flashing to the shape where the egr bolts on and seal it with high heat caulking. And for the hose that goes to the egr I planned on just stuffing something in and clamping it.

Does anyone have any better ideas? I could also just weld a plate onto where the egr mounts but I’d rather not do that.

The truck also runs a little rich, you can smell it sometimes. I was told that the evap is the most likely cause but any parts store I’ve called has said that their system is saying that these trucks don’t have a Vapor canister and rockauto says the same. If anyone has any insight on this please feel free to share as I’m at a bit of a loss.

Work done so far;

All fluids; oil, transmission, diffs, tcase, coolant (not power steering yet)
Spark plugs
Plug wires
Fuel filter
Clutch master and Slave cylinder
Distrubutor cap + rotor
Waiting on MAF, O2 sensor, air filter and PCV to arrive.
The pcv might also help the running rich issue but just curious.
