The memory foam mattress was originally developed specifically for the use of the NASA astronauts during the 1970's which immediately took the recognition of the medical scientists. The medical community then eventually made the same memory foam mattress for the people staying in hospitals or nursing homes; as well as for the immobilized patients on wheelchairs that were prone to developing pressure sores on their backs and buttocks.
