NEW looking to buy a 91 Trooper Need advice
I found a 91 Trooper II. It needs work but I only want to use it for a short distance driver and eventually turn it into an off road project. it has 140k and is selling for $675. They "say" it needs a fuel pump but for that price I'm assuming more will be wrong. I am unfamiliar with Isuzus so I am wondering what I can expect to pay for a new fuel pump. I know some cars' fuel pumps are an easy fix and some aren't. Also, if anyone could give me info on what to look out for with this vehicle that'd be great.

Obviously check it like you would any other car..body damage, rust etc..
4 cyl models tend to have head issues..
wheel studs tend to strip if lug nuts installed with a air gun..I replaced mine and my father in laws after inspection..
check the transfer case for any leaks..if you can start and drive it make sure the 4l and 4h operates properly and without any bad noises..
I just purchased my 2nd Trooper..a 1990. It was 500 and didnt run..we threw a fuel pump in it and fired up..I was able to drive it around and make sure what was bad or good..My trans and 4x4 all worked fine..electrical and gauges were good..a/c worked etc....I have bad lifter noise but I plan to restore my Trooper with a engine rebuild, interior and paint etc...Sounds like if the Trooper your looking into is clean enough you could gamble on about 120.00 worth of fuel pump to see if it will work out? I went for mine because the body was super straight and rust free..interior was decent..nothing was ever monkeyed with....
Good luck!
