Default New guy here... 93 Trooper 3.2

Hello,
I am new here but have been driving my Trooper five speed since 2001. It's a great family vehicle that has been servicing us very well on many road trips across the USA.

Today while taking my 9 year old to school my engine stopped running in the middle of a intersection () and would not run when restarted. It would light up but but not stay lite... it would just sputter... it sounded like it was running on one or two cylinders then it would die a few seconds later.

About two weeks before this she has been running a little rough in the morning by hesitating/missing as I accelerated. This would smooth out later as it warmed.
I noticed when it missed the tachometer did not drop so I am guessing that it's not electrical.

Deep down inside I feel it's a small part that has failed and nothing major....I hope.... Any ideas on what I should look into or try.

Thanks very much for any and all advice,
Dennis
