I just bought a 98 trooper with 148k miles on it. Despite the fact that it was a little neglected it is in good mechanical shape...with one exception. The ABS light is on and remains lit. When I apply the brakes the front end dives a little.
I have run into this before on another vehicle and it turned out to be the ABS control valve.
Would you venture to guess what the real reason could be?

I have a 2002 Isuzu Rodeo. I think its the transmission but I'm not sure. When I put it in drive it will barely move. I have to push on the gas pedal ever so slightly until it engages. Once it has been going or about 10 to 15min it will still have problems going but it does not take as long to get going. It does fine over 30mph but if I turn a corner the problem comes back. Going up my driveway is a lost cause, the front end feels and sounds like its about to drop.

I have a 2006 Ascender with instrument problems. Intermittently the gauges stop working and the instument lights all come on. As soon as the car is restarted, the problem goes away for days or weeks. do you have any idea whats up?< src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" ="text/"></>< ="text/">_uacct = "UA-939292-44";

98trooper-
My 98 Amigo had abs light on & I replaced front wheel speed sensors.
That cured it. Find someone with a scan tool to check it. Front end should dive when fronts are applied...unless by dive you mean shocks bottom out...that would be consistent with abs not functioning, which is what the dash light is telling you.
