Hi Ya'll, just joined. Looks like a great forum. Has anyone experienced an extremely high pitched noise in the engine. The belt looks fine and all pulleys are rotating. Someone mentioned that it could be a failing alternator but I haven't had any problems with the electrical system.

The noise stops as soon as I slightly tap the throttle to torque the engine, but reappears when at idle or at constant throttle. Would a deteriorating belt make this noise or is one of the pulleys starting to fail?
