99 Isuzu Rodeo
#1
Hi, I just bought a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo. This is my first time ever owning an isuzu. So far I love it, but just have a few questions about it. 1 is the winter drive. I've read that it just starts you out in a higher gear, but I've also been told that it might engage awd. Is that true? Next, I'm concerned about the placement of the 4wd button. I'm sure the people who made the vehicle thought of this, but I just wanna make sure. Is there some kind of safety feature so if you hit the button at hwy speeds (say 70 or 80 mph) it will keep it from trying to engage 4wd? Because, it says to make sure you are doing speeds below 60 before attempting to switch into 4 high. I'm concerned with this because the 4wd button is right next to the cruise button and I'm afraid sometime I'll be doing 70 or 80 down the freeway and want to turn on cruise and accidentally hit the 4wd button. I'm sure since its and electronic switch it has some sort of safety feature to keep from damaging 4wd, but I'd rather not test it. Anyone know about this?
Thanks much

NOT THAT I HAVE TESTED THIS but being that it is an electronic transmission you should be able to put it into reverse going down the highway and you would be fine it "should go into neutral" until about 15 mph then hold on I would guess that the 4wd would work the same again I HAVE NOT TESTED THIS but I have read it in a few different books hope it helps
I have been told that winter drive on my rodeo just starts you out in 3rd gear so you wont spin the tires however mine is 2wd so yours might be different
